First,
I want to thank you for sharing your child with me! I will be teaching social
studies for all fifth graders along with one section of math. Students will be
enriched in American history, as well as with geography skills. We will begin
our studies with Native Americans (pre-Columbian era), move on to early
explorers, and then learn about the settling of the Colonies. Students will next
go into studying details of the American Revolution and our Constitution. We
will work our way through U.S. history to finish close to the present time,
discussing details along the way of events that shaped our country. It is my
goal that your fifth grader walks away from my class loving American history as
much as I do!
This will be my tenth year of teaching and my sixth year in Deer Creek Schools.
My teaching experience has been with 5th and 6th graders, with subject areas of
social studies, music, language arts, and math. I am a graduate of Oklahoma
State University (go pokes!) with a BSE degree in Elementary Education.
I have been married ten years to my husband, Matt, and we have two beautiful
children. Cole will be in third grade this year at DCPV, and Annabeth is 4 ½
years old. I enjoy making scrapbooks of my family (when I have time!) and
following the OSU Cowboys.
